ENI WHCS PV off Grid System

Project Description
Smart Solar Installed PV-Off-Grid systems in Meliha, Marsa Matrouh, Egypt. The PV System was Engineered,
Procured, Installed and Commissioned by Smart Solar Team. The systems were offered to Eni Company for
Well Head Control System.

Why was PV selected?
The Project area is not covered by the national electricity grid. The Skid systems were served by diesel
generators before which cause high running costs due to diesel supply and maintenance. The most suitable
and economic solution for is PV off-grid power supply.

Special challenges
The Nature of WHCS DC loads with dynamic motor starting in different scenarios was an engineering
challenge, the system had been tested under different operating scenarios to validate the design and
integration of the system and all went successful to meet the load requirements and four days autonomy.
Diesel generators were kept there as a back up integrated into the system.

Location : Meliha Gas Field, Marsa Matrouh Governorate, Egypt
Installation : Dec 2015

Project Value : 415,000 EUR

PV Off -Grid System for Ras Ghareb Oil Field Airport

Project Description :
Smart Solar Installed PV-Off-Grid systems in Ras Ghareb Region, Red Sea, Egypt. The PV System was
Engineered, Procured, Installed and Commissioned by Smart Solar Team. The systems were offered to Suez
Oil Company Oil field Airport Telecommunication System.

Why was PV selected ?
The Project area is not covered by the national electricity grid. The Telecom systems were served by diesel
generators before which cause high running costs due to diesel supply and maintenance. The most suitable
and economic solution for off-grid power supply for telecom systems in off grid is PV-power.

Special Challenges :
Off Grid systems are often located at inaccessible sites where it is extremely expensive or impossible to
connect to the grid. Diesel generators as alternative cause high running costs and the need to regularly
transport bulky and heavy fuel. PV systems vastly reduce running and O&M costs. Unmanned automatic
operation is possible due to remote monitoring systems.

Location :
Gulf of Suez, Red Sea Governorate, Egypt
Installation : February 2016
Project Value : 15,000 EUR
System Components :

  • ï‚· 20 x Solar World Solar Modules 150 Wp

  • ï‚· 1 x Solar Charge Controller Stecca 48 V, 180 A

  • ï‚· 8 x Hoppecke Batteries 2 V / 2146 Ah (C10)

Schlumberger Solar Street Lighting

Project Description :
Smart Solar Installed Solar Street Lighting hybrid system in 6th of October, Giza, Egypt. The PV System was Engineered, Procured, Installed and Commissioned by Smart Solar Team. The systems were offered to Schlumberger Egypt for Cairo Integrated project Campus.

Why was PV Selected?
The Project area is covered by the national electricity grid, Nevertheless Schlumberger decided to rely
partially on the solar energy to power the outdoor street lighting of the project, this adds to sustainability of the campus.

Special challenges
The Solar Street Lighting Hybrid systems configuration were selected by client for the project, defining the
priorities between Solar, Battery and Grid was engineered to extend the battery life time provided that the system will completely rely on the solar energy only.

Location : 6th of October, Giza, Egypt

Installation : June 2016
Project Value : 276,000 EUR
System Components :

  • ï‚· 600 x Ever exceed Solar Modules 120 Wp

  • ï‚· 266 x Solar Charge Controller SRNE 24 V, 15 A

  • ï‚· 312 x Ever exceed Batteries 12 V / 100 Ah (C10)

NBE Roof Top PV on Grid System

Project Description :
Smart Solar Installed Roof Top PV on Grid System at 8 Branches of NBE, Alexandria and Behera Governorates,
Egypt. The PV System was Engineered, Procured, Installed and Commissioned by Smart Solar Team. The
systems were offered to NBE Egypt for NBE Branches Self Consumption.

Why was PV selected?
The Project area is covered by the national electricity grid, Nevertheless NBE decided to rely partially on the
solar energy to power the commercial buildings and reduces rising electricity bills by replacing it with Solar
Energy, this adds to sustainability of the buildings.

Special Challenges :
Provided the difficult structure of the roof top with existing facilities, Smart Solar successfully maximized the
space to be covered by PV modules, Thanks to state of the art 3D Modeling and 3D Shading Analysis , the
system operating under highest performance ratio and annual PV system yield have been maximized.

Location : Alexandria& Bahira Governorates, Egypt
Installation : Sept 2016
Project Value : 512,000 EUR
System Components :

  • 1300 x SUNTECH Solar Modules 255 Wp

  • ï‚· 12 x Solar Inverter Schneider Electric

  • ï‚· Schlatter GmbH Mounting System

Marsa Allam Campus PV Hybrid

Project Description :
Smart Solar provide development and consultancy for PV hybrid system in Marsa Allam, Egypt. The PV
System was Developed, Engineered, Provide material list, and Installation and Commissioning will be under
Smart Solar Team supervision. The systems were offered to North Red Sea Campus, project suspended at last
stage due to finance issues relating to tourism industry in Egypt

Why was PV selected?
The Project area is not covered by the national electricity grid. The Campus was served by diesel generators
before which cause high running costs due to diesel supply and maintenance. The most suitable and
economic solution for power supply for the Campus is the PV Hybrid with Diesel and to be replaced in later
stage with batteries.

Special Challenges
Provided the difficulties in handling DG fuel as well as transportation and maintenance issues accompanied
with DG operation, the PV Diesel Hybrid System was selected by client for the project, defining/measuring 24
hours load profile and extrapolation to cover the whole year was the basis for defining the optimum PV
penetration ratio and guarantee the DG reliable operation in conjunction with PV Sys
tem
